The Twitterverse, and early news reports are exploding with word that Kimi Raikkonen has penned his deal with Ferrari today and an official announcement is imminent.
The Finn, 33, will be the teammate to Fernando Alonso in 2014, making the lineup one of the strongest in open wheel.
Raikkonen’s current team Lotus long ago sent Raikkonen an offer, but they said they knew that they could no hit on every single wish the 33 year old had.
Silly season 2014 has been a busy one for Ferrari, as they have been weighing their options as to whether or not they should resign Massa, or bring in Nico Hulkenberg from Sauber who has been showing some strong results with the struggling team.
Massa has been having trouble being consistent since an accident sidelined the Brazilian in 2009.
Alonso refused to answer any questions about the move via his Twitter account today, citing his respect for Massa as the reason for keeping his mouth shut.
Raikkonen spent three seasons with the Italian team, taking home the championship in 2007. At the end of 2009, his contract was bought out by the Scuderia to make way for Alonso.
The Finn has started 189 starts with 20 wins and 75 appearances on the podium.
